Double Vision by Ibraheem Ramadan – A Project in Progress

Dec 2018

Double Vision is a project in progress that is based on a documentary material of a journey made by a group of animation artists in Syria between 2008 and 2011 along the western strip of Syria. Later on, following the discovery of a documentary material dating back to 1974 and documenting the Syrian-Lebanese Rally, which started from Beirut and spread along the Syrian and Lebanese maps, the plot of the film was created. It combines both journeys and the two different periods within a single story using various available media, including documentary materials and animation to draw an integrated map of the journey away from wars and conflicts that would cut off the roads and prevent the cars from proceeding safely.

During the 2018 Stuttgart Festival and the Arab Animation Forum, Double Vision won the Best Project in Progress Award and was nominated for the support of the German Robert Bosch Foundation at 2019 Berlin Festival.

The project is currently being completed in cooperation with Cinema Animation Studio in Berlin and the project team is looking forward to premiering the film at 2020 Berlin Festival.
