Changes to the 7th Edition of Research to Strengthen the Culture of Knowledge – We’re open to applications until 10th September 2019

Research: To Strengthen the Culture of Knowledge continues to receive the applications of young researchers in its 7th edition until 10th September 2019.

The results of this edition will be announced in the last week of October 2019, and the 1st phase of the training will be conducted in either November or December 2019 in Beirut. The exact date and location will be confirmed in due course. The 2nd phase of the training is due to take place in April 2020, with the deadline for each research piece extended until the end of June 2020.

In this edition, the categories under which we receive applications were revisited and expanded to include the following 6 main categories:

  • Studying artistic and creative trends and directions among Syrian artistic and literary products, Syrian artists and writers wherever they are, as well as the creative economy.
  • Exploring the forms of documentation, archiving and protection of traditional and contemporary heritage and scouting the role of this heritage in the social, creative and economic sectors in Syria in the future.
  • Researching the creative craft industries, including the materials and techniques used to produce these industries, and the professional experience related to them, in addition to the mechanisms of inheritance and teaching of these experiences and their impact on society.
  • Studying the active cultural structures in the Syrian society, researching the causes of cultural marginalization, and studying the dynamics of transformation in the features of the Syrian culture and its inherited characteristics since the uprising and throughout its different stages.
  • Studying the features of the new Syrian culture generated during the uprising, as well as exploring the prospects and possibilities of development at the present time and the near future.
  • Studying the most important priorities for cultural action in the Syrian context, including the management of the current process of cultural change, the possible forms of intervention, and the most important research and theses that affect the level of policy and planning of cultural practices.
