The Fifth Edition of Research: To Strengthen the Culture of Knowledge is Open

For the fifth year in a row, Ettijahat- Independent Culture launches the new edition of Research: To Strengthen the Culture of Knowledge at the beginning of July 2017.

This capacity-building program aims to provide full-time research opportunities for young Syrian and Palestinian- Syrian researchers (22-35 years old) within the field of cultural studies. The program seeks to enhance the researchers’ skills, providing them the tools and guidance to accomplish their research project (The programme will probably be their first research endeavour since their academic studies). Experienced cultural researchers, who constitute the program’s selection committee, will directly supervise the projects.

The program focuses on current topics in cultural research that are relevant to the situation in Syria.  Topics will range in scope, but they will revolve around the changes in perspectives of Syrian artists with regard to their relationship with society and the transformations it is witnessing.

This edition witnesses an increase in the number of grants and their value. The theoretical scope of topics covered will expand to include Heritage and Creative Professions as well as the topics covered in the previous editions. The program is aimed at young Syrian and Palestinian-Syrian academics and university graduates in Syria, neighboring countries, Turkey, and Europe.

All information relating to application terms and conditions as well as the application form are available here.

The deadline for subbmission is 27 August 2017.
