Maharat: A Recap on Business Models and the Sustainability of Performing Arts Groups

Between 2022 and 2023, Ettijahat - Independent Culture implemented the “Business Models and the Sustainability of Performing Arts Groups” component of the progarmme “MAHARAT: Building Careers in Performing Arts programme”, which supported 10 small and medium-sized enterprises and entities in the performing arts sector in the Arab region. This component included a special training program designed to equip participants with financial planning skills in the for-profit and non-profit sectors and to help them identify the challenges they face with funding and available sources, and how to think about approaches that help attract commercial and private sectors and promote alternative economies, and explore the impact of the consequences of Covid-19 on public life and the development of digital reality.

This component was accompanied by flexible financial support and a specialized mentorship framework supervised by a number of experts from the Arab region.

In this video, we highlight some of the questions that accompanied the work of the supported institutions in Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.
